What is the difference between Cisco SFP-10G-SR and SFP-10G-LR?

Cisco SFP-10G-SR is an 850 nm short-reach optic for multimode fiber, reaching 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4/OM5. SFP-10G-LR uses 1310 nm over single-mode fiber and reaches 10 km. Choose SR for in-rack and intra-data-center links already cabled with MMF, and LR when the run exceeds the multimode budget or the plant is SMF.

Does the Cisco SFP-10G-SR support DOM / DDM?

Yes. The SFP-10G-SR supports digital optical monitoring, so supported Cisco platforms can read real-time transmit and receive optical power, temperature, supply voltage and laser bias current, which makes link troubleshooting and pre-failure detection practical.

How far does the Cisco SFP-10G-SR reach on OM3 and OM4 fiber?

300 m on OM3 (50 µm, 2000 MHz·km) and 400 m on OM4 / OM5 (50 µm, 4700 MHz·km). On older FDDI-grade multimode fiber the reach drops to roughly 26 m, so confirm the cable grade before ordering.
